So you want a bit more than a few days on safari? You’re wanting to see more of the country? Then look no further than our two week adventure. There’s loads to see here and a super special treat visiting the only two remaining Northern White Rhinos on this Earth. Jump on board and let’s go see what wants to be seen.
Day 1: Nairobi – Ol Pejeta
We leave Nairobi after breakfast and make our way northward to the Ol Pejeta Conservancy where we arrive for lunch. Time then to relax before an afternoon game drive at 4pm. There’s a waterhole right outside your room where an abundance of animals gather to drink. Even the rhinos! Here is the only place where you can do an optional night game drive.
Dinner and overnight at Camp/Lodge.
Day 2: Ol Pejeta
After breakfast we head off on a morning game drive looking for rhino, elephant, lions or whatever wants to be seen. You have the opportunity to visit Jane Goodall's chimpanzee sanctuary if you wish. Lunch and afternoon to relax before another afternoon game drive. There are 32 individual wild dogs here and you might get lucky enough to spot them hunting.
Dinner and overnight at Camp/ Lodge.
Day 3: Ol Pejeta – Samburu
It’s a transit day to Samburu on good, easy roads. We check in at the park entrance then do a game drive enroute to the lodge.
Samburu is dry, arid land with rocky formations surrounding the Ewaso Nyiro River which runs alongside our home for the next two nights. Lunch then relax until our afternoon game drive. As you relax, you listen to the mellow sounds of running water beneath the shady trees. Ahhhh bliss...!
Dinner and overnight at Camp/Lodge.
Day 4 & 5: Samburu
Today is divided into morning and afternoon game drives as the animals tend to hide from the hot mid day sun. In Samburu you have the opportunity to see grevy zebra, somali ostrich, gerenuk, vulturine guinea fowl and beisa oryx which you will not see in other places. The big cats prowl here too along with an abundance of bird life. Resident leopards can be seen just outside the lodge along with elephants.
Dinner and overnight at Camp/Lodge.
Optional: Balloon safari and a visit to Maasai Village.
Day 6: Samburu – Aberdares
We’re on the road again and make our way to the Aberdares. Our lunch today will be at the Aberdare Country Club; a sister to the lodge where we will stay overnight. We will take with us an overnight bag only. Our main luggage will be held in locked storage at the Country Club until our return tomorrow morning.
We board a bus at 2.30pm which takes us 45 min to our accommodation within the Aberdare National Park. Here we will observe the wildlife at close range from one of four viewing decks or a cosy lounge chair. There is a dedicated photo hide on the lower deck where you are able to take close up uninhibited photography.
Dinner and overnight at Camp/ Lodge
Day 7: Aberdares – Elementaita
After breakfast we leave the Ark Lodge at 8am on the bus and drive out of the park and back to Aberdare Country Club. If we get lucky and see animals before exiting the park we will make a stop. Leopards are often seen at this time.
At ACC we collect our main luggage and get on our way to our next destination. Along the way we stop at the Equator for a water demonstration. Morning tea stop is at Thompson Falls (named after the explorer who discovered the Aberdare Mountains and named them after his employer, Lord Aberdare; and who has the Thompson gazelle named after him). Arrive at Lake Elementaita for lunch. Afternoon to relax and take in the view and birdlife.
Dinner and overnight at Camp/ Lodge
Day 8: Nakuru
Today we enjoy a full day game drive around the shores of Lake Nakuru. This is the only place you will be able to see the endangered Rothschild giraffe in its own habitat. White and black rhino also live here along with many other wildlife species. We take a picnic lunch with us and depart the park in the afternoon making our way back to Lake Elementaita and the relaxed atmosphere on the waters’ edge.
Dinner and overnight at Camp/ Lodge
Day 9: Elementaita – Maasai Mara
We leave Elementaita after breakfast and make our way to the world famous Maasai Mara National Reserve. We stop along the way at Narok for a stretch and coffee break before arriving at the Reserve for a late lunch. There’s time to chill out before your afternoon game drive going in search of wild things.
At 4pm we head off into the park to seek out lions, leopard, cheetah, elephants or anything out there that wants to be seen. As the sun sets, we’ll arrive back at our lodge for hot showers and dinner. Later, lay your head on your pillow and wait for the sounds of lions calling their pride or hyenas cackling as you drift off to sleep. Lala vizuri!
Dinner and overnight at Camp/ Lodge
Day 10 / 11 / 12 / 13: Maasai Mara
For the next four days we leave the camp after breakfast and we take in this wonderful reserve as full day game drives. There are lots of areas to explore and find the big cats and other animals that reside here. Each day is spent full day game driving.
After a hearty breakfast to keep us going, we’ll explore the wonders of this park seeking out the best wildlife sightings for you. Each day is different and we’ll explore a different area each time. Our prime objective is to find the animals for you to enjoy. We’ll get in the best position possible for great photos without encroaching on the animals comfort and safety. We’ll make this your ultimate safari experience!
At the end of each day it’s back to the lodge to chill out and remember the magic of your discovery.
Dinner and overnight at Camp/ Lodge
Day 14: Maasai Mara – Nairobi
We bid farewell to our home for the past few days and head back to the bustle of the city. We’ll stop briefly in Narok to stretch our legs and have a comfort stop over coffee. A welcome cafe lunch ends our safari before dropping you back at your post safari accommodation.
